Singapore Youth Festival Arts Presentation for Concert Band 2015

A total of 147 Secondary schools participated in the SYF 2015 Arts Presentation for Band (Concert), held from 31 March to 10 April at the Singapore Conference Hall.

Let us do our best!

All bands presented a selection of two pieces, comprising a set piece; either Hermes by Hiyato Hirose or Singapura Suite, movement 1 by Jan Van De Roost and a choice piece. The repertoire selected reflected a variety of musical styles which includes works by Asian composers. The overall results reflect a generally high standard of performance in our Secondary school bands.

Presenting at Singapore Conference Hall

On 2 April, Woodgrove Symphonic Band presented Singapura Suite (1st movement) by Jan van der Roost and Folklore for Band by Jim Andy Caudill. The Band was awarded the Certificate of Distinction for its presentation. The award bears testimony to the months of preparation, commitment and consistent practice by every member of the band. The experience definitely reinforced the importance of school values like resilience, responsibility and teamwork amongst the band members and drew us closer as friends and band members.
