National First Aid Competition 2015
The annual Red Cross Youth National First Aid Competition aims to raise awareness about the importance of first aid in our everyday lives. The theme for the competition this year was “First Aid, Here We Go!”, reflecting that first aid is something anyone can perform anywhere, whether in public or at home.
Two teams from the Woodgrove Red Cross Youth participated in the Awareness and Management categories. The Awareness team focused on raising public awareness on how everyone can be a first aider. The Management team found themselves in scenarios where they were required to apply first aid knowledge and management skills to help those in need.
Both teams passed the preliminary rounds on the 28th February and went on to participate in the finals on 4th of April at Toa Payoh Hub against the top twelve schools of each category. The cadets gave their best and were awarded 2nd runner-up in the Management category and 1st runner-up in the Awareness category for the North-west District.
The team for the Awareness category comprised of Muhammad Ridhwan from 3E1, Sim Shi Jie from 3N2, Adeline Chan from 3T1, and Goh Wei Jie from 3T1.
The team for the Management category comprised of Nur Liyana from 3N1, Nurul Mahirah from 3N1, Marvin Goh from 3N1, Erni Nur Sabrina from 3T1, Siti Nilam from 3T1, and Nur Rabiatul from 4T1.
