English and Literature
The English Language and Literature Department aims to mould students into empathetic communicators, discerning readers and creative inquirers of the English Language. On top of this, it also aims to cultivate a love of the English Language as an aesthetic form as well as empower students to use language creatively for impact.
We also affirm our students’ efforts and recognise excellence by showcasing outstanding creative writing pieces through our in-house microsite:
Writer’s Block: A Showcase of Creative Writing Works by Woodgrovers

During our lessons, we work together to read between the lines.
We are excited to learn from a writer and how he uses language to write creatively.
We look forward to the yearly National Schools Literature festival to celebrate our love for the subject and pit our wits against other schools in the various events.
