Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) Programme
In T1W4 2019 (28 Jan to 1 Feb), all Sec 3 students attended our school’s first ever Outward Bound Singapore (OBS) programme for Sec 3 cohort. The OBS programme comprises the MOE-OBS Challenge Programme as well as the school-based OBS Parallel Programme.
The MOE-OBS Challenge Programme is part of the National Outdoor Adventure Education Masterplan which the Ministry of Education has put in place to strengthen the holistic development of all our students. The programme seeks to develop ruggedness, resilience, and build cohesion amongst our youths.
Using the outdoors as the environment for learning and development, the Sec 3 students had a unique opportunity to work together with students from other schools and to overcome various outdoor challenges.
Some Sec 3 students participated in the school-based OBS Parallel Programme. There are many useful skills learned from hands-on activities. Students learned about goal-setting, personality types as well as their strengths and weaknesses.
There were also opportunities for bonding and learning to work with each other
through team-building games and challenges. At the end of the programme,
students also learned to plan and implement a VIA project for elderly who are
in need of help and support.
