Project SMILE – Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home
Woodgrove Secondary School (WGS) held the Project SMILE by organising a visit to the Chen Su Lan Methodist Children’s Home from 28 Aug 2012 – 5 Oct 2012.
Our alumni on the way to sending the gifts to the children
This objective of this project aimed at highlighting to Woodgrovers that there are many people out there who are less fortunate than them, and that they should cherish their lives and the love that they have received from their families and friends. Furthermore, it aimed to encourage students to render voluntary service to projects undertaken by the WGS community and to inculcate the school value of CARE in Woodgrovers, both current and alumni.
All secondary one and three Woodgrovers were invited to participate in this project to bring a smile to the less fortunate children during Children’s Day. The classes together with their form teachers had to prepare gifts for the children in the home.
Taking a picture with the personnel in charge
A guideline for the items to be included in the gift pack was given to the students so as to ensure the gift packs were more or less of the same quality. Using the guideline, the students chose the gifts and gift wrapped them. In addition, students also prepared a Children’s Day card to send their wishes for this occasion.
The many wonderful gifts prepared by our Sec 1 - 3 Woodgrovers
On 28 Sep 2012, the alumni members sent all the gifts to the children’s home so that the presents are received by the children on Children’s Day itself.
We would like to thank all the secondary one and three form teachers and students who made this project a great success.
One last shot before leaving the home
