Fund-Raising Walkathon 2012
Woodgrove Secondary School (WGS) conducted a Fund-Raising Walkathon on Friday, 19 October 2012 from 7.45 am to 10 am. Students from secondary one to secondary four and five were involved in raising funds. All secondary one to secondary three students participated in this event on 19 October 2012.
The objectives of the event were aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle and foster teamwork among staff and students to achieve a common goal, fund-raising.
In line with the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) All Children Exercising Simultaneously (ACES) Day, WGS staff and students embarked on an inaugural Walkathon event together with our Guest, Mr Fandi Ahmad. WGS staff, students as well as members of the Parents Support Group (PSG), completed the 3.89km walk individually. Great resilience and teamwork to motivate one another were exhibited by all participants throughout the Walkathon route. Hence, as a concerted effort, we clocked an estimated distance of 4000km in total.
The Walkathon was also a celebration in which all Woodgrovers came together to rejoice on the amount raised via the Fund-Raising Walkathon cards which were distributed to students in term three. All staff and students showed care and compassion for the less fortunate by trying their best to raise donations for the less fortunate. All proceeds will go to Woodgrove’s needy students, improvement of school facilities and the President’s Challenge.
