Starbooks Café 2020

This year, we experimented something new! We decided to launch our new books at the Symphonic Corner, in the canteen! Many students were thrilled by the display and browsed through the new books. Many of them borrowed too! A grand success after two months of hard work and preparation! A special thanks to the organising committee, teachers and our advisor, Ms Rani.

A wrinkle in time movie screening 2019

Our Reading programme 2 was a movie screening based on a book that we had featured in the Library, A Wrinkle in Time.

It was two months of hard work where we planned out on marketing and organising the event. We had decorated the notice boards outside the library. Our President, Maryam and Vice-President, Belicia came back during the September holidays to draw out a huge clock to be featured on our noticeboard.

page 1.jpg

We also designed and pasted posters around the school. Movie tickets were also given and they had to RSVP their interest! One week before the event, we also promoted the event on our Woodgrove story Instagram page.

It was a great turnout! Students brought their own snacks and got comfortable and enjoyed the movie screening!

Values-In-Action(VIA) project at Northland Primary 2019

On 1st August 2019, students from MRL collaborated with 34 students from Northland Primary School’s Library Club and implemented their Go Make A Difference(Go MAD) project. The students interacted and connected well with the primary school students. They also taught them the skills they have learnt from their Scrabble and Debate Trainings.

pg 1.JPG

The students initiated the planning of the activities to transfer the skills they have learnt throughout the years, by conducting a Scrabble and Public Speaking Workshop. They took ownership in executing the activities. The students started off their program with assisting the students in creating Scrabble words with the limited tiles given and engaging them in public speaking by making them think about issues. The primary school students enjoyed the activities planned by the students and the interactions with our Woodgrovers.

pg 2.JPG

It was a fruitful experience for our MRL students. Through this project, they developed their leadership skills, communication skills and their emotional intelligence. They learnt to be more generous in sharing their skills as well as to contribute back to their juniors.
