Home-Based Learning

Dear Parents / Guardians and Students,

The Sec 1 and Sec 2 students will be having Home Based Learning (HBL) from 28 June 2021, Monday to 30 June 2021, Wednesday.

Thereafter, all Sec 1 students will be having Home Based Learning (HBL) Day and Student-Initiated Learning (SIL) every odd week Friday in Term 3, namely 2 July, 16 July, 30 July, 13 August and 27 August. All Secondary 3 students would be having HBL day every even week Friday in Term 3, namely 9 July, 23 July, 6 August and 20 August. Subjects allocated for these days would follow individual class time-tables.

Our school’s HBL consists of both online and offline approaches to learning. Your child/ward will be provided with instructions on how to access the HBL materials. More details regarding HBL, including the daily timetable, will be available in our HBL site.

Instructions for Students:

Start your day right by waking up on time and have your breakfast before 8 a.m.

Find a suitable room or area with minimal distractions for home-based learning.

Establish a daily routine by following your HBL class timetable.

Ensure that your learning materials and Login ID and Passwords for your SLS and/or Google Classroom accounts are with you.

Your completion of the HBL lessons, or attendance for live lessons, is expected. If for any reason you are unable to submit the assignments or miss the HBL lessons on a particular day, please inform your teachers and ensure that you make up for the missed assignments.

Take short breaks in between to rest. Limit your screen time during HBL to about 2.5 hours each day.

Put forth your best effort, as the HBL learning tasks are part of your school lessons.

When you take part in live lessons conducted by your teachers, dress in the school T-shirt, turn on the video and follow your teachers’ instructions.

Practise good online etiquette and behaviour. Keep your personal information private and do not share your passwords with anyone.

Tips for Parents:

Use the daily timetable to work out a daily routine with your child to be engaged in learning during HBL.

Encourage your child to take short breaks in between lessons, and engage in healthy offline activities, such as physical activities or interactions with family members.

Encourage your child to maintain an optimistic and positive outlook while accepting the changes and emotions that he/she has had to face as part of going through HBL.
