Secondary 4E/NA Students Investigative Geography Fieldwork @ Orchard Shopping District
The Secondary 4 Express and Normal Academic students were at Orchard area – Singapore’s prime shopping district – for their geographical investigative fieldwork study on 25 and 27 January 2016 respectively.
At Orchard area, students worked in groups to complete various tasks such as interviewing tourists to gather responses on the attractiveness of Orchard area as a shopping paradise and conducting land use survey to explore the types of shops in the district.
As a follow-up to their fieldwork, the students would be required to submit a report to capture their learning after their March Holiday.
The fieldtrip was a valuable opportunity for the students to learn about the processes involved in conducting geographical investigations. The knowledge and skills acquired through the field-based learning would be useful in preparing them for the GCE Combined Humanities Geography Elective National Examination, which comprises of a compulsory component on assessment of fieldwork.
